I was left paralysed from the waist down following a motocross accident aged 15. The sport which I loved cost me the ability to use my legs and nearly cost me my life. I was quickly told that I had actually stopped breathing for 9 minutes
But this ignited an inner drive which I never knew I had
I quickly returned to my studies which resulted in me achieving a 2:1 degree in sports science and back into sport, through wheelchair tennis. There was just something missing though...... speed. I do not see myself as disabled though and wheelchair tennis needed to be adapted for me to compete. I returned to motorsport in 2011 and it gave me what I wanted, a chance to leave my disability behind and compete on a level playing field with able bodied drivers. Over the past 10 years it has given me the mental and physical reason to focus on what I can do.... not what I cannot. I made the step up to Team Brit in 2020 and their world leading hand control's have put me on more of a level playing field than ever before. In my debut race my teammate and I achieved a class podium, going on to get another one later in the year. 2020 has shown the potential which I have so I am looking forward to challenging for wins in 2021
